Formed in New Orleans in 2008, “Pat Casey and the New Sound" is an energetic and exhilarating group fusing both classic and modern Jazz with Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and funk and Hip Hop. The group plays original material as well as inspired arrangements of quintessential classics. It’s members include some of the finest young players in the New Orleans music scene.

Whether on alto sax, tenor sax, flute, or EWI (electronic wind instrument) Khris Royal is well known for his ability to take the group and the audience into uncharted territories through his deep harmonic and melodic facility and unparalleled energy as a soloist and accompanist. He can be seen locally and on the road with George Porter and the Runnin Pardners as well as in town in any number of settings including his power-packed group "Khris Royal and Dark Matter".

Julian Addison (with Jeremy Davenport, Bill Summers, Sasha Masakowski) is a highly sought after player due to his incredible talent and his ability to play a broad array of music extremely well. His comprehension and interpretation of the music be it Latin, Funk, or straight-ahead Jazz is rivaled by exceptionally few.

On Guitar: the venerable Danny Abel (with Brian Coogan Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Khris Royal and Dark Mater, Groovesect). Danny’s extensive work in the New Orleans funk and straight-ahead jazz scene has made him an invaluable and integral part of the group. He contributes essential blues elements to the sound of the band and is one of the most exciting soloists to emerge in the jazz and funk paradigm.

Jason Butler (Piano and Keyboards)

Jason Butler (Piano and Keyboards)

Jason Butler is a top player in the New Orleans gospel, funk, and jazz scene. A highly dynamic and gifted player, Jason is an authority on keys in modern New Orleans music. He can be seen playing on stages all around town, in several New Orleans gospel churches, and as a member of “Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs".
