Pat Casey is a New Orleans–based bassist known for his deep groove, stylistic versatility, and original compositions and arrangements. His melodic approach to the instrument and relaxed technical command have made him a familiar and respected presence in the city’s vibrant music scene. Originally from Denver, Casey moved to New Orleans in 2008 and quickly immersed himself in the local musical community, gradually building a reputation as one of the city’s prominent bass players. Drawing on influences from jazz, funk, fusion, and the rich rhythmic traditions of New Orleans, his playing blends precision, warmth, and an unmistakable pocket.

Since arriving in New Orleans, Casey has maintained a steady performance schedule, collaborating with a wide range of respected artists across the region. He has performed extensively with vocalist Robin Barnes, percussion legend Bill Summers, Cuban jazz pianist Alexey Marti, and the groove-driven ensemble Groovy 7. Casey has also toured nationally and internationally as a member of the legendary funk-jazz group the Headhunters, carrying forward the lineage of the groundbreaking sound pioneered by Herbie Hancock and his collaborators.

His work reflects both the heritage of New Orleans and the exploratory spirit of contemporary jazz fusion, making him a distinctive voice in one of the world’s most historic musical cities.
